November 8-16, 2019

After the success of the inaugural Writers at Sea in August 2018, T.M. Clark and I are running another writing retreat that sails to one of the Pacific’s most treasured destinations—New Caledonia. The relaxing nature of cruising will give you plenty of time to work on your projects as well as meet like-minded writers. When in port, you’ll have the option of exploring the vibrant local culture, swim in crystal clear waters or stroll along pristine beaches lined with palm trees—the perfect way to inspire creativity and rejuvenate your spirit!

Suitable for writers with any degree of experience, this retreat includes workshops, writing sessions, feedback, and mentoring. There’ll also be time to relax and gaze out at the azure ocean and endless blue sky, take in a show or game of trivia, read by one of the many pools, or undertake an on-shore adventure.

A little about us:

Alli regularly presents workshops for Writers Victoria, Queensland Writers Centre and private writing groups, as well as providing mentoring and manuscript assessment. She is published by Harper Collins (Australia), Kensington Books (USA, UK, Canada), and her books have been translated into German and Serbian. Alli enjoys working with writers and helping them develop their craft and finding the gems that will make their stories and characters shine.

T.M. Clark has taught from kindergarten, through schools in Australia and PNG, and adult community groups, including libraries and the Queensland Writers Centre. Published by HaperCollins, Wombat Books and Macmillan Education. Tina loves the writing process, but had to learn to ‘like’ the editing part. This has helped in her mentoring of others who don’t really love the editing stage either. Tina is the director of the CYA Conference in Brisbane.

RETREAT COST: $1200 AUD per person

RETREAT INCLUDES: All workshops, personal development, a ten-page critique of your manuscript and one-page synopsis, a one-on-one one hour mentoring session with Alli or Tina and the opportunity to talk about books and learn various aspects of writing craft  for a whole week!

This cruise departs from Sydney and your cabin and flights (if required) will need to be booked in addition to the retreat. Prices start from around:

TWIN SHARE CABIN: $900 AUD per person (interior cabin)

SINGLE CABIN: $1800 AUD (interior cabin)

*Please note: These prices are based on the current Royal Caribbean sale and are subject to availability. If you wish to upgrade to an ocean view or balcony cabin, it is possible to do so at an extra cost. Our travel agents or I are more than happy to discuss options with you (I’ve been on numerous cruises and should be able to answer any curly question you have!).

Please also note in order to enjoy the benefits afforded to groups on board the ship, all cabins need to be booked through:

Sue and Tegan at Hello World Travel (Leopold). Tel: 03 52022720

Please tell Sue or Tegan you are part of the Writers at Sea retreat.

Before you book a cabin, please contact Alli and Tina at info.writersatsea@gmail.com to check places are still available on the retreat.

If you wish to bring along a guest who will not be participating on the retreat, please contact us for details.
If you are traveling alone and would like to reduce costs by twin sharing, we will endeavour to pair you with another participant. There are no guarantees we can do so as it will entirely depend on availability, but we will do our utmost best.
